Speak Out Against Domestic Violence Short Film Competition

The Avon Foundation for Women is issuing a call for submissions to the 4th annual Speak Out Against Domestic Violence Short Film Competition.  The contest is an opportunity for film students worldwide to submit their work to the international film festival, Expresión en Corto, to raise awareness of the issue of domestic violence, with the goal of eradicating domestic violence worldwide.

The competition is part of Avon’s Speak Out Against Domestic Violence program that provides funding to domestic violence organizations for awareness, education, prevention programs and direct services for victims

Submissions should be short films (up to 20 minutes) that creatively highlight the varying emotions and situations that women (and witnessing children) face as victims of domestic violence.

A jury comprising film industry professionals and experts in the field of domestic violence will select the winning films. The winners will be announced shortly before an awards ceremony in Mexico City on November 23, 2011. The three best films will receive cash prizes totaling 100,000.00 pesos.
